One of the many duties of a citizen is to elect the right representative to govern so we can have the right dudes and dudettes in the governance. Indeed, the early voting begins today in most of the City and Municipal elections – just google your City and go the to City site – and you will have the polling booths listed there. This enables one to be active and participative Citizen. It just takes 10-15 minutes at most during early voting with shorter or no lines.

Shia Sunni difference over Prophet's last sermon, what do we do about it?

Facts don't matter, it did not matter to President Bush and his followers, and they believed what they believed despite the information available to the contrary. We Muslims are no different, each one of our sect is entrenched with certain beliefs, and our fundamental beliefs will not change. Indeed, accepting change is like making the earth beneath us disappear. If Sunnis accept Shia version as fact or Shias see the Sunni version as the truth, their whole theology collapses, each one will cease to exist, and for that reason, no one will subscribe to each others' "facts". 

 

Sunnis believe that in his last sermon, Prophet said he was leaving the book (to learn and understand, as we are individually accountable for our actions) while the Shia Muslims believe that he also said he is leaving behind his progeny to offer guidance. Even if we were to recover the real voice and his speech, neither group will believe in it; it amounts to wiping out our beliefs. It is best to follow the guidance from Qur'aan; let you believe what works for you and I believe what works for me, as long as we do not mess with each other's space, sustenance and nurturence. Both will go to Janna if we care about God's creation.

I do visit public library at least twice a week; indeed, I have spent a life time visiting and reading books. Back in India, the public library was open 365 days a year and as a student I loved being there in all my spare time. Most of my writing occurs in the in two or three peaceful hours at the library, including this note.

Dallas Morning News' question: Do you visit your public library regularly? Why or why not? If so, how often and what section of the library do you use most?

TEXAS FAITH: When the pew and the pulpit don't see eye-to-eye?

There is a difference between the pew and the pulpit on this matter. Of course, that is not the first time a divide has been seen between the leaders of a religious tradition and those who adhere to that faith. What I would like to hear from you all this week is how such a divide gets resolved in your tradition. I recognize that sometimes they aren't resolved, but I would like you to elaborate upon this question:

Indeed, there is a great difference between the pew and the pulpit and most certainly a few issues get resolved and a few go to the holding pen to be unleashed whenever the opportunity arises to get even.

Obama victory is certain if Santorum is the guy

Santorum has busted Romney in three states last night;

Missouri – Santorum 55% - Romney 25% - Paul 12%
Minnesota - Santorum 45% - Paul 27% -Romney 17%
Colorado - Santorum 45% - -Romney 34% - Gingrich 13%

This does not bode well for the GOP, it will drive the moderates, independents, and Republican leaning independents towards Obama.  GOP fails to understand that a majority of Americans are moderates and not conservative sticks in the mud. Romney has a chance.

Gingrich is out of touch with the public, when he uses the term “Massachusetts Moderate” to Romney, he is offending a majority of Americans who are indeed moderates and not right wing extremists like him, it shows in the polls.

Santorum is another radical right winger, a panderer to the tea party folks, a small interest group. If he were to plunge us into a war with Iran– who loses? The American Public;  5000 soldiers, another trillion dollar, more airport security checks… more job losses, foreclosures… contracts for his buddies. He needs to be checked out, who is buying his soul?

The nation is on the path to recovery after the mindless destruction of our own economy and other nations in the last decade. We don’t want another one who hurts the average American.

The candidates we need are peace makers, job creators for all Americans and bring prosperity to America. The likes of Santorum and Gingrich are not for America, but for themselves. When we step out into national elections, the majority will go for the moderates.

The conservative Center for Security Policy recently issued a warning that Sharia law was being implemented in American courts. Its spokesperson said that Islamic religious demands are arriving mostly through rulings involving cases where foreigners are the principals and he commented that "Sharia enters U.S. courts through the practice of comity to foreign law."

HATE MAIL ON OBAMA'S SPEECH
My appearance on Hannity show and support for Obama's proposal last night has produced a few pieces of hate mail from the rightwing Christians, Hindus, Jews and Muslims alike and a full blown article on me. 

The Israelis and the Palestinians want peace but the right wingers among them and the US have been a hindrance. 

These guys want the conflicts to continue so they can cash in on it. If there is peace, the lobbies lose donations and many a organizations will go out of hate business. Fox will not have the material anymore. 

I pray that these men and women put in their time and energy in creating peace and join Obama, let their passion be put in for god purpose, so the people of Israel can hope for a secure life and Palestinians can live with hopes.

Obama should stick out, when they have peace we can save $5 billion a year in aid and take care of our own here in America.  We pay them and we have a right to ask them to do the right thing and make peace, this is time.
